M Pottery

My name is Megan Weyhrich and I work on the potters wheel using midrange clay and glazes to create one-of-a-kind functional pottery pieces.  I have studied at Northern Michigan University under both Sam Chung and Jane Schellenbarger, though my pottery education began long before that. I developed a love for pottery at a young age; I was about eight when I threw my first bowl on the wheel thanks to a dear friend of my parents. I have pursued my interest since then, and am now working independantly.  Since leaving school, however, I have not been able to set up a studio, so production is limited at the moment. 

If you are interested to know, the philosophy behind my art is about a connection. I want you to be instantly comfortable with the product you are using and to know that you are the only one who has that piece. Each piece I make is a connection between myself as an artist and you as someone who will now value it and put it to use. I feel that functional pottery is a unique art form in that it makes use of more than just visual stimulation and appreciation. It has the added element of touch. It is used and made familiar and becomes a part of your day, it really becomes yours.
